Sundance Style Must Haves

It’s that time of year again where Utah gets crazy up in the PC, Park City for Sundance film Festival. What’s on every ones mind…..?? What movie do I see and what do I wear to Sundance? Mostly if you’re not from Utah you really don’t know how to pack. So I am here as your personal Utah Stylist to help you get ready for Sundance Style. You need to dress warm, and understand that there will be snow and water and sleet all over sometimes ankle-deep! Last year it was so crowded on the streets and dark you couldn’t see where you were going to get around people and then before you knew it your ankle-deep in water and snow. Ok so it’s important to know how to be cute and prepared. Some of these brands  are my top picks that will keep you warm and stylish. Dig in…

How to wear the most stylish hats this season

By jenclydestylist | November 13, 2012 | Segments | 2 Comments

HOW TO WEAR THE MOST STYLISH HATS THIS SEASON

The hat is becoming a little more than just a practical item, it is a must have stylish, valuable fashion accessory which can either complete your look or help you stand out. For me it’s not only about standing out…it’s about combining warmth and style to make a amazing winter outfit. Some of my faves this season and advice on how and where to wear these styles.

Fur Hats: These are one of my top faves. I love this more in the neutral colors like real fur would look. I am not a lover of having real fur but I am not a hater of you wearing it either. I feel that it’s a personal choice like voting. We don’t judge you. So if you choose to wear the fur it’s super easy to wear. It’s more of a throw on and go type hat. They come in all sorts of shapes and styles but really this will not only keep you warm it will go with a dressed up outfit or dressed down. It’s like the white t shirt in  your closet. Have fun with this one.

Cloche Hats: I love this because it’s a vintage inspired style of hat from the 1920s that bring a lovely sense of fashion with them. When you put these on your instantly updated with a fashion forward amazing look that is instant timeless and chic. Where to wear these…I love them for a work type style, or night out on the town outing. They give more of that dress up feel so it’s great to wear them this way.

Fedora hats

Fedora hats are probably the most versatile hats ever invented. First designed for men in the 19th century, now fedoras are unisex and can be worn with everything. They give that new trend of men’s wear looks a instant sex appeal. I love these because you look smart and stylish. One of my fave and comes in many different colors and styles but one of my fave just the black basic so classy and clean looking. Love this look dressed up or down either way this one you can rock at anytime of you day.

Slouched beanie: This is your slouched everyday hat that you want to wear out sledding with the  kids and want to look cute. This is not one you want to wear going for a night out but more so to do your shopping in. When your out and about this is your number one hat that saves us from a bad hair day to a cold face! This one is a must have in many different types and colors. Cheaper and furry and sometimes comes with earflaps to add that extra warmth. Rock with your snow bunny outfits to your jeans.

Click on photos to go to the store to buy

Turbans: One that is a bit more edgy but I love it. Super fun and funky and keeps your head warm as well as looking super stylish! This hat is a great for a relaxed look and easy going day. Helps all of us who have bangs and don’t want to do them but not too much where you can’t wear it all day. This is one of my fave looks and you all need one.

Stay warm, Stay Stylish, and go buy some new hats. They are the perfect gift.

Shopping Tips!

By jenclydestylist | November 9, 2012 | Uncategorized | No comments

Shopping season is in full swing …tips on how to shop

smart, save money, and find the best items on your list.

According to a 2009 survey conducted by PriceGrabber.com, American shoppers are getting a head start on the holiday shopping season — 22 percent of shoppers started their holiday shopping in October and 29 percent in November. Not only is this tactic good for beating the crowds, but it’s also a way to ensure that you get the gifts on your list. So how can you stay on track this year, save money, and beat the anxiety of it all? Being a personal shopper for many years, I have learned a ton….so here is your stylist “How To Shop This Season” ideas and tricks….

Prep time

So just like anything else we need to prep. We need to make sure we are ready before we leave the house with a list. If we are not? Well it’s just a hot money mess. Basically you spend 10 times more then you need and you double your shopping time and stress level. So I found this cute list on pintrest last night and you have to print it out after you download it for free. So cute and will save you tons of money and time. Try it! Here is the link to download it for free.

From lifeinyellow.com click here to download and save.

Shop from Home

Pull up a chair and have some hot chocolate and shop online in the comfort of your home. Not only are you beating the crowds but you are saving money on gas, and saving your patience from finding a parking spot. Christmas is a time of giving and relaxing so try to shop online if you can. They have amazing deals online look up some deals on groupon.com or livingsocial.com or even retailmenot.com. These places can save dollars and at Christmas time it’s all about saving as many pennies as you can. Also another plus of online shopping is so many are joining the trend of free shipping. So what is better then that? Now you can’t complain about shipping ….so do your research and get shopping. Here are some of my most favorite online shopping sites:

Shopbop.com

6pm.com

asos.com

mikkatmarket.com

modcloth.com

tobi.com

lulus.com

threadsense.com

singer22.com

delias.com

Shop in Unconventional Places

One way to avoid the holiday shopping rush is to avoid the places where people normally do their holiday shopping, like department stores, big-box retailers and malls. Instead, try to support local small business owners, craft fairs and thrift stores. You may find the crowds are thinner and the wares more unique. Sometimes a gift from a unique special boutique or craft store is better then something someone sees all the time on everyone. Really try support your local stores it’s so important. They could use every inch of support for the love of what they do and try to run day by day.

SHOP WITH FRIENDS

Friends support you, either actively or passively (by setting a good example and not tempting you to cheat) when you’re trying to make a healthy change, like staying on a diet or budget. So I always love to go shopping with a friend of mine every year. Because I know if I am buying to much she will say…you don’t need to buy that you already got that other item. They help you stay on track and be a supporter. Also sometimes it’s fun to see what they are buying to get fresh ideas. Also just fun to be with a friend goes to dinner and makes a night of shopping.

Use social media.

Before you start shopping, start following your favorite retailers on Twitter and Facebook. Many companies offer discounts exclusively to their Twitter followers and Facebook friends. A quick search of their recent posts may reveal money-saving discount codes. This is a huge one! A ton of people only hold big discounts online and offer better more fun items then in their stores. So get on instagram, pintrest, fb, and twitter and find the best of the best deals.

Bring on the envelopes, toss the credit cards.

Leave your credit cards and debit cards at home. Allocate an amount of money for each gift, and put that money in separate envelopes marked with the recipients’ names. This honestly helps. I hate to spend cash for some reason If I see it leaving my wallet I don’t want to spend it so I can put things back easier at the checkout. This helps you not buying anything for yourself and get a list of people a budget for each person then go shopping. You will feel so much better after I promise. Big difference. Smart shopper.

Ok and if you ever need a personal shopper that can save you money and time…look up my cost under services. See you soon.

How To Make Your Cardigan A Statement Piece This Season

By jenclydestylist | October 30, 2012 | Segments | 1 Comment

Ok it’s winter time. Are arms need a extra layer of warmth so our outwear becomes more of a inner wear now through these next months coming up. So I have been asked how spice up the cardigan that we all own in our closets that we through on with everything …People tend to get a little board and want it to be the element that pulls the whole outfit together because we are most likely to not take it off in doors because of how cold it is. So here are some fun ideas to do to make your cardigan become your statement piece.

1. Add a fun collard top underneath the cardigan to add a funky collar trend going on plus a added sleeve element. Plus roll up the cardigan sleeve to your elbow then the blouse sleeve right underneath to bring a funky element.

Click on photos to go to link to buy

2. Add a double belt! Not just one but two…connect them together and then wrap it around the cardigan to add a pop color and a different texture.

3. Scarf it up! Ok something fun….is to add some prints and color by adding a scarf. I love a tube scarf right now and I think it warms you up plus it gives you a fun element to a boring scarf.

4. Layer up longer necklaces with shorter ones to add a funky element to make a boring scarf stand out. love this I always do this and really makes it more fun to wear.

5. Add a old broach from grandmas closet or a funky flower hair clip just to give it some extra strength in it’s design. Make it spicy for what ever type of event your off too.

So get inspired from the below looks and wait for the photos from my ABC4 morning show to come up and posted with wear to buy by 1:00pm. Get inspired and get warm.

Here are the outfits all used on my TV Show this morning and where to find them all! Thanks for watching and following. Share the love and share my blog with friends To watch the show live click here.
