Spring Swimwear Report

Well it’s that time where some of us love….and some of us moms hate! I think Ohhh gosh, now I have to get tan, shave my legs everyday, and workout! Yes I know I should be doing this year round but…well….I am not! So some of us love it because you have been working out and getting tan and your ready for some cute swimwear to go with your hot vibe. So you’re in luck! Many different companies have been rocking the vintage vibe which is my fave and then the sporty one along with the hot colored bikinis. So what ever you’re wanting to rock this summer I think you will be very happy with some of my top picks for swimwear this season. What to buy? Here are my top faves.

Vintage Vibe:

This suit I love from DownEast. Vintage Vibe and great price. Fits well and great for bigger chested women with that under wire to help hold up that area and not look droopy affect and help out those backs! Love the print and piping. Go here to buy!

This one piece beauty takes Vintage to a next level. Modern vintage style is what I like to call it. I love the side tie and the stripes of course and this suit is so well made that the fabric holds you in so you look 10 pounds thinner. This is one you want to have this summer. Anthropologie keeps vintage classy, timeless, sleek, slimming, and just a plain must have! For moms like me I love it because black is my slimming save and tucks in tummies, and covers that it spot on your hips and bum area! Sporty:

Ok I am in love with these boy shorts and tankini! I just wore mine in Hawaii last week the whole time. This suit is great for paddle boarding and surfing! This is cute too, to rock just walking down the board walk with a cute tank for a walk or a skateboard ride. When you think sporty as a mom I always think…What can I wear chasing after my 5-year-old and look clean sporty and put together? Or how can I party with the 13-year-old down the water slide without embarrassing him with my bikini being on top of my head instead of where it should be? Bigger chest:cup top, tie around the neck or shoulders, stay way from strap less without a cup

Smaller chested: One shoulder strap, sporty tankini, x back, stay away from cups

Bigger hips: Go with a swim skirt, vintage one piece with longer sides, full back, one piece helps. Stay away from string sides that push out unwanted areas

Smaller hips: Anything usually looks great on your body! But side ties look fab, high-waisted looks super cute, and anything that has a great tight fit.

Walk With Me Wed…DIY have2s

Ok so here is the deal with me this week….first thanks for joining me on my fave post day it’s my Stylist Journal Day for those who are new followers…but here is where I finally get to speak my mind of what I hate, love, dying over, or just anything I feel that can express a bit more about me since you follow me I want you to know me! So here it is…today I am in the kick to keep going with all my DIY moments. First I am messing around with my house design and you all know how that is…but I finally got some of the colors down. So more to come on that…but I have been in the kick to make some cool elements to my clothes. You can do this in like 20 mins too! So fun you have to try it for fall. Just taking your everyday cardigans and make it look more like a Free People 125.00 shirt….so fun by just adding patches or just some old dolies. Check it out and start gluing or hand sewing…enjoy and thanks for walking with me…ohhhhh also I am in a Vintage Kick right now and adding elements so one of my new fave stores around town that has always delivered…?? Savors! Savors opened by me this month in S. Jordan, Utah and there is nothing better then finding some gems and boy did they have a ton! So check it out….some of the prize items I left with that night to inspire me.

I found at the opening of Savors some great finds like 3 awesome vintage patterns I want to try to change up a bit…and awesome fabric that were curtains but I will use for a dress and then a cool old vintage Vogue sewing book! That was my fave find there that night. Cool old vintage books can not be beat! So cool and I love reading new ways to figure out design better. Plus so cute on my book shelf or coffee table. What’s better then that? Try to always get some cool old things in your home that inspire you and have a story to tell. Makes your home that much more special.

Then new Savors in S. Jordan, Utah had such a amazing selection of bags….here is the thing you have to think out of the box here…sometimes it’s just cut and dry and you can buy something you never want to cut up…then there are the moments you think out of the box of what you could use a amazing bag for…like the leather to make a new i phone case or I pad case that’s totally unique or to use for cool fabric to make a clutch or anything really. So find something you can create and make a cool unique design with…

Ok and one of the best things is the jewelry! Yes…omg let me just tell you…some of my fave pieces came from Vintage Stores…and Savor’s in S. Jordan Utah brand new store…did not fall short! They had some awesome things check it out in this photo above….and the great thing is some have cool pendants you can take off and remake and make more modern and I tell you to add vintage with modern makes up for a fab piece that makes for some real head turners…..so get to savors and start getting yourself some real gems.

NOW TO THE MAKING….DIY IT! TRY THESE AFTER YOUR SHOPPING AT SAVORS THRIFT SHOP….

PLAIN CARDIGAN JUST ADD SOME AMAZING FABRIC OR LACE OR WHAT EVER TO GET THAT YUMMY FREE PEOPLE VIBE ….YOU CAN USE FABRIC GLUE OR I USED A NEEDLE AND THREAD AND JUST HAND SEWED IT ON SO IT STAYED…SO FUN AND DIFFERENT AND TOOK ME 20 MINS. NEED TO TRY SO EASY! .

ONE NEEDLE AND ONE COLOR OF WHITE THREAD OR ANY COLOR YOU WANT TO USE TO MAKE IT UNIQUE AND IT UP AND DOWN THROW THE LACE JUST HOLDS IT RIGHT ONE SUPER SIMPLE….AND HERE IS THE FINISHED PRODUCT..

HERE YOU GO NOTHING TOO IT …TOTALLY MY PERSONAL STYLE AND MADE IT LOOK MORE FUN AND FUNKY…SO CUTE AND COST ME 8.00 for the boyfriend cardigan. Love!

This shirt I got at an estate state for .50 cents….what?? Yes such a fun find…just added some cool elements now…

Cute plaid plain shirt….just again you can sew these patches on?? Or you can use fabric glue if your now a sewer. …the imperfections really make it that much better..don’t stress of perfect lines ect….

Done!! Ok so I love this one sooooo much…really cute for fall and makes it so much more expensive looking and unique. You are in for a treat when you try this beacuse I alreay have worn and got lot’s for “where did you get that?” So have fun this fall create some cool unique wardrobe peices and this whole shirt cost me only 1.oo with string I used..and the fabric was extra laying around scraps so never throw away your scraps from a project because you never know what you are going to want to make later and need.

Transforming Summer Into Fall On A Budget

Wild hot summer days are now coming to a sad end for most of us and coming into the fall is such a fun time but sad one at the same time! So much to look forward too but also so much to start packing up in our wardrobe! But not now! Don’t pack up those dresses and skirts just yet…you can transform them easy into your all wardrobe and save some dollars at the same time. All the new fall fashion is coming in and you want to take part….we all do I love fall fashion! So you can mesh them easy into some of your summer wardrobe if you follow a few of these steps for instant style and savings. Invest in…..

LEGGINGS/TIGHTS

Ok so I know so many of you have some…but make sure they are a updated tight and really even a colorful one! It’s ok to rock the color in the fall too…don’t be shy about that but instead of the bare leg rock a yummy tight with some cute heels or even boots with your cute dress. These are a must have to be able to transform into fall.

SCARFS/NECK TUBES

ok so I know these are sometimes annoying to wear so make sure you have the right texture of warmth around you and make sure it’s something fun and with pattern! Scarfs can really just add instant style 100%! It’s a sure thing and you need to get some amazing ones that have those hoods attached to them right now. So cute and so big they can double as a blanket. You can throw that on with any tank or short sleeve to add extra warmth into the fall.

BOOTS

There is one reason that fall is amazing and that is hands down the boots that come out….holy I mean…it’s unreal. I love to see all the new designs and patterns and fabrics they are using on boots right now and for any reason I get to wear a boot I am happy. So if you still want to rock shorts put them on with a fun long sock and boot and make it look that much more like a fall look. Or I love the look of a maxi dress tied up in a knot on one side put on with a boot, then your dress won’t drag in the rain or snow and yet you still can wear that favorite maxi dress in the fall. This look just makes me happy. Boots for all reasons are a good thing. So whip those boots out dust them off and set them out for fall because they can be worn with any summer outfit.

CARDIGANS/LAYERS

We all have these staples or we all should. Layering is one of the hardest things to master. Once you have that down you know and understand the basics you need to put under those tank dresses or even on top as a cardigan then belt it and pull it in together. It’s so important to understand that really if you have the right boyfriend cardigan it can add instant warmth and depth to any summer dress or outfit. So invest in some way cute warm good cardigans and some lace or cool textured undershirts from freepeople. That way you can move with the seasons and not get left out in the cold.

SOCKS ARE HOT

I love me some big fun socks with my boots in the fall….so comfy so cute…just make sure you rock them the right way…I hate to see more sock then boot and I don’t like to see tight socks on those calfs so it pushes out unwanted skin at the top! Make sure they are loose enough they don’t give you tight rings at the top of your leg. Also when you wear socks all the way up to the thigh then it can go a bit on the sexy side so I love them up to my knees or just right above only if I am wearing a legging too! Otherwise below the knee is better, safer, and more style. So start your sock shopping for fall!

On Wedding Guest List….Now What To Wear??

Wedding Style Etiquette

You’ve gotten the invitation for your friends’ wedding, happily circled the date on your calendar and started shopping for their gift, when all of a sudden it hits you – what are you supposed to wear??? The etiquette for proper wedding guest attire can vary greatly depending on the style of the wedding. You’ll have to become a little bit of a detective, but fear not. There are clues everywhere.

Where to find these clues? Well Start off with the invitation. Is it in flowing engraved black script? Probably more formal so grab the more dress up dresses. Does it cheekily ask you to come see them get hitched? Wedding guests should look for a nice casual outfit. And of course, it may tell you directly on the invitation – black tie, casual attire etc. Think about where the wedding is set

Outdoors: – if it’s outdoors avoid anything that will get caught in the wind – you won’t want a battle of wills between the wind and your modesty. Also is it going to hot or cold? Last thing you want to do is feel so uncomfortable from sweating in your long sleeve or long length dress you choose to wear..no one will want to dance with a sweaty mess, or I HATE being cold and you want to feel conformable and happy on this joyess day your attending. So think of what the weather will be then go dress shopping. Also outdoor weddings try to be light and airy since that is usually the feel they are going for. Don’t wear heels to the outdoor wedding you will just sink in the grass or break a heel..so go for flats or wedges. Also a cute pair of sunglasses always top it off.

DayTime- More of the floral dresses, open toed shoe, sling back heel, Light colored dress, Skirt with a cute t shirt and stacked jewelry….make this one fun. I love daytime weddings but remember they are long so don’t wear anything to sheer in the daytime or you will look like you belong in a club not at a wedding and also nothing black or sequins.

Evening- dress as you would if you were going out to the theater or to dinner.

a cocktail dress – nothing too sexy but something fun to dance in. Black is fine.

a dressy suit or a cocktail suit

wear darker colors and look for something sophisticated

avoid beads or sequins unless the invitation specifically says black tie

Warnings:

Don’t wear black or sequins during the daytime. Anything too sparkly will make you look overdressed.

Don’t worry about wearing the same colors as the bridesmaids or mothers Or Bride! If you want to take a color from wedding do it in a accessory like shoes, clutch, earrings, necklace! Not the full outfit or dress or top…nothing but accessories.

Do wear something feminine and appropriate, out of respect for your hosts. Club wear, overtly sexy clothing (strapless, see-through, etc) doesn’t belong at a wedding. If you have to ask if it’s appropriate, it probably isn’t.
