How To Think Like A Stylist When Getting Dressed! Great Tips

How To Think Like A Stylist When Getting Dressed

 Jen Clyde Stylist Says…

Ok I love to find some great tips inspired by other stylist as well as use some of my own! Now some of the things I notice while being a fashion blogger is that I am always getting questions like..I just can’t pull that off! This is just not true! You can do anything you want too. You just need the confidence to do so. So here are some of my own tricks I use when I get dressed every morning and then here are some others from great stylist that I just loved! So enjoy! Get creative and just relax fashion is not perfect!

1. Add cool factor: I love this! Ok let me explain. So I feel like if my outfit is too predictable I just add some Jeffery Campbell’s shoes or some big bold bright necklace or earrings. As a stylist we are constantly playing around in clothes and trying new things. Like a chef (I do not cook by the way) but Mac and Cheese just doesn’t cut it anymore after a while. So test new things and add that “Cool Factor” of your own. Can just be one stand out piece that you are just a bit nervous to wear.

2. Wear fashion opposites at the same time:  Basically a true stylist thinks as an artist. They like to play with texture, prints, and colors. People always ask me questions on How To…but here is a way I think as I am getting dressed. I like to mix a silk blouse with cut off jean shorts, or I like t-shirt with a pencil skirt. I love to put things together that are not best friends and when you do this it can end up in a fashion moment. Some do some don’t but unless you try to unless your willing to hear all sorts of opinions then play it safe. Just feel beautiful and you will make any outfit shine.

3. Not Afraid of DIY: Most Stylist love to invent their ideas in their own head into fashion. I love to test out different ways to take something old and make it new and modern. I feel like when you mix these different times of fashion you end up with a master piece  So take old grandma brooches and add to your belt or take them and add them to your purse either way anything you do will turn out amazing and turn heads and make something boring become masterful.

4. The Half Tuck: I always do this from front of my blouse or jeans to not commit to the full tuck but gives you more of a volume and texture to your outfit. I love how it hangs from behind like it’s a messy fashion statement but it works. I love how you can do the one tuck as well just one corner of you button up top. Either way it just gives a different element to wearing your clothes. Try it you will love it.

5. J. Crew Roll: Ok I call this the J. Crew roll, because a cute Stylist from J.Crew blogged some How To’s and I fell in love with this tip and I think you will too. It was on how to roll a sleeve. Instead of tucking the cuff and then rolling, you fold the shirt up once up by the elbow then take the rest and roll it up to the cuff so the cuff is standing out leaving cool detail and then they even stay up better and don’t get loose. To see more of this blog post and ideas click here.

6. Messy pant roll: I love this again from J. Crew Stylist. She shared her messy pant roll. I always do this with some booties but I was happy to see her use it with some flats. I love how it stands out more. As you can tell by most of these stylist tips that having rolls and tucks and patterns to not look perfect is how you get more of that stylist look. Also these rolls stay better and don’t kick you back into the 1950s rolled jean era.

7. Knotted Scarf: You know I love to have some fun ways to tie a scarf which you can go watch online on my YouTube Channel but for an easy way to just throw a scarf on for extra color tie knots at the bottom of each end. Makes it more easy to wear and it makes it just a bit more stand out and different the person sitting right next to you.

As a stylist everyday is a fun day getting dressed because I feel my best outfits come when I don’t try to get that perfect outfit. If I over think it then I know the outfit is not going to work. Remember your personallity and confidence make anything you wear seem effortless.

My show on ABC4 will be posted later after the show aires. All outfit details and information will be posted below. Thanks for Watching my weekly ABC4 Fashion Segment.

Here were my outfits today on the show. Special thanks to DownEast, SuperTrash.com, Sol -Angeles ….amazing!

Active and Stylish…..Learn how…

Being Active and Stylish….Never comprise Style

Summer 2012

Ok so yes I am a stylist but this does not mean that I am dressed up in wedges 24/7, I mean come on I now live in Utah I have to experience all the yummy nature Utah has to offer. So I always think even when you are hiking, swimming, cycling, and camping you have to “Play the Part” and be you yet comfortable for the activity you are rocking. So in this case I take a opportunity to think outside the box and try to come up with some funky in every boring hiking, cycling, anything outfit to make it my own. I love to try to take a look and just tweak it enough so I can still remain me. Yes do I get stares sometimes at these professionals?? Yes! But I love it…I think in everything you do a little bit of you should shine through. So here are so me thoughts for some fun summer activities that keep you healthy but stylish and fun all summer long.

Cycling/Spin- Ok I mean if you have not yet fallen in love with this sport you need to try it. It really did change me….I feel like I am in a Gatorade commercial every time I am riding and it makes me want to push myself even more. But the clothes not always the best. You have to rock black padded pants or shorts to save your little bum from killing you…this is a must no way around it!! So then I love to add style in the Jersey! This year my fave is the two cute rides I am participating in…GoldieLocks Ride for women and Wildflower Pedal Fest for women. You can always cute cuter jerseys if you join a ride and it’s fun! GoldieLocks is in May in Herriman Utah, and they have tons more rides to offer. Check them out at www.goldielocksride.com and then check out Wildflower pedal fest race in August in the most beautiful mtn. in Utah check them out online at www.wildflowerpedalfest.com. I will be riding so come ride with me. Then my most fave part to add some spice to the bike…My Neon Socks!! Serves to purposes…Style, and safety. Honest people can see those little legs moving more if they are dressed up in Neon socks. And they are super cute. Then I love to have some way cute gloves and dress in layers. Cold to hot without having things to carry. Love arm warmers and you can get some way funky ones. So get cycling and get some funky socks! Join a race and get some cute Jersey’s.

Hiking Style: Wear a great fitting t-shirt or racer back bright tank top!!, in a classy and expensive color. Then I love to layer up because then you aren’t too cold or too hot!! You can wear a flannel that is easy to tie around your waist or tuck in your backpack. Then I always no matter what go with black leggings. I think they look great and they cover my legs from any bites that I could get. They also help me not get a burn or have weird plants touch my skin. When it’s way hot I still wear leggings in black but go for the capri cut. Cotton is good as it dries quickly, as well as being breathable. I love a good shoe as well that doesn’t’ make my feet to hot. I feel like sometimes a big hiking boot makes my feet way to hot in the spring summer. Find some walking shoes, or slim trainers, with a thin layer of fabric…these are better than walking sandals as there are fewer places for the shoes to rub. Also if they are a light mesh shoe then if they get wet they dry way faster! I love myself a cute little black backpack as well. Or as I like to call them waist pack. Keep sunscreen and gum and your keys and phone.

Gardening style: For the girl that loves to be outside but not much of a hiker or biker, and loves to garden or just be outside with some summer relaxed style on your beach cruiser with some of your freshly picked greens in your basket to go give to friends? You want to go for something that has the ability to get down and dirty but still look like you have a bit of style somewhere in your busy life. So I like to make my own fabric aprons or take regular rain boots and make them funky by adding different neon laces or something along those lines. Wear some cute rain boots with some leggings so you don’t see any underwear lines when you bend over! Or some cute ripped up boyfriends with a cute T shirt that has short sleeves so the sleeves doing get all in the way. I hate baggy T shirts gardening because you are always bending over and you can see right down your shirt. So something easy light and no bad tan lines. Then a big floppy straw hat just adds a light touch that makes it funky but yet keeps the sun off of your neck. So what ever you wear don’t do sweats!! Just looks like your walking around in PJ bottoms and gardening. Just have a set outfit you reuse all summer long and make your outfit you!

So I hope this helps you get active and stylish this spring and summer of 2012. Remember don’t compromise style for your activity. Make it work with what you are doing. Have a great time doing it and you always will look amazing! Remember to wear sunscreen!

More about the Cycle Rides for women please visit them online at www.goldielocksride.com and www.wildflowerpedalfest.com to make sure you sign up and have a amazing summer giving back to others and yourself with some stylish girl time!!

Walk With Me Wedensday ….Journal of a Stylist

By jenclydestylist | April 25, 2012 | Events, Uncategorized, YouTube channel | No comments

Walk With me literately this Wedensday….haaa. Every week I am so busy I am flying to think of something to share on this day. I have so much going on…I am not sure what my inspiration will be. Well my I phone is always full. So annoying!! Always!! So I was trying to take photos of my son playing baseball but of course it was full again!! So I started going through my photos to delete some off my phone….then it hit me!! I have a serious problem….I have some obsession with taking photos of my shoes and feet where ever I am and posting it on my instagram!!?? What the?? Then I thought maybe I have some serious issues…then my thought following was well? Maybe I have no problem and I am capturing the moment of where my feet have taken me in my life and what I am doing. Here is my journey in all these different places and maybe seeing these feet or shoes where they are will bring me back to the memory of how I got there?? So then my next thought…leads me here my style journal and it sounded pretty good with my Title Walk With Me, because I really am walking!! I kind of giggled a bit. So today it’s about every journey we all take and maybe taking a photo of your feet is not a bad idea….because it leads you into a thought or memory that maybe you would have forgotten? So all of you start walking with me every week try it? See if after a couple of months you look back and it triggers something good or bad. I am thinking of asking my hubby to do a coffee table book for me for Christmas that says “Walk With Me, Through 2012″. So if he doesn’t get the hint maybe you can drop him a note for me friends. So hope you enjoy what I have so far and create your own memories through inspiration and share with others. If you like some of these follow me on my Instagram account. Under @ jenstyles on instagram, I am so obseesed with it right now. Feel free to share my blogs with others and to get more subscribers is only the best thing ever!! I love styling and I love sharing my story. Enjoy walking with me this day!

Spending time with my dear daughter on our girls night out to the U of U gymnastics finals. They did really well and I wore my red jeans to represent. We got to spend great time together and with our cute friends and neighbors! Just the girls it was awesome. I loved my new H & M stripe shoes for summer this is why I had to share with the world.

Sitting and shopping with a dear client from Provo Utah. She came up here to Salt Lake City just to hire me and take her shopping. She was not a gal who like color but here we are in the dressing room at J. Crew, as I sit and wait she is learning some fun tricks and learning how to feel confident after having her 3 child. She looked great and I wanted her to feel great.

This is me laying on my bed before church one Sunday because I was so excited to show my $6.00 shoes off to the world that I loved and just bought from target on clearance and was so stoked. My white ceiling is above my shoes but I felt like it was a great background to my little gems I scored. Love those  moments.

Here I am waiting to go on my next ABC4 show all about shoes for summer 2012. My foot is the boring one on the right with some of my fave colored shoes this spring, coral orange, with my intern rachel, sitting next to me with some way cute shoes on that have the print of the year on them. Love love what a fun show. Shoes can so make the outfit.

As a mommy this is what I do. I sit at baseball games all day long. As much as I am so so busy, I will bring my work to the ball park. Your kids are only young once. Do I love what I do as a stylist? Of course!! Do I have to pass up jobs so I can watch baseball which I am totally not in love with?? Of course. These boys are so passionate about sports as I am fashion and if we all can’t support each other in our passions then who are we to expect such attention. We are all here to build each other up, and to do things for others and this is why if I am not a A list stylist because I had to be a mom first…..well then so be it! Because this foot here is one freaking proud mama watching her son pitch in his big Mesquite NV. tourney. Go Buddy. Love you!

Yes even though I am a stylist I do love to workout, try to adventures, hike, bike, and just about any sport. I grew up with all brothers and I hate to just sit it drives me nuts! So last year my mom gave me her way nice road bike and it was on!!  A new obsession or kick as my dad would call it. So I figured I would put my own spin on the already horrible outfits road racing has….Neon socks. My theory?? Serves two purposes..Style, because it’s different and of course you know I like that, and Safety, because they are neon and my legs are moving fast and with this flash of high neon socks I am rocking everyone will hopefully see me and not kill me!! So yes I road bike and wear the funkiness socks I got for $2 dollars at Target. Love Them!

So yes when I get something I love I get a little excited about it. And looks like I was very happy with my stripe shoes for 12.99 at H&M this year because I had a couple of photos of these shoes. They are comfy, cute, and perfect everyday mommy shoe. Adds instant style with any outfit and really I love to mix prints and here stripes and pok a dots rock together! Kicking back after a  long day at work to hang with my dog Willow.

This is me falling asleep in the sun after a long day of working and waiting for my son to finish his baseball practice. Basically I am a walking taxi cab. I drive too and from school, sports, events, friends houses, grocery store, work, and many more. So really I try to catch a tiny cat nap if I can and seeing sun for the first time in Utah after winter you just have to take your shoes off and feel the warmth on them…then I passed out for a bit.

Here I am with my most fave rain boots on I have them in two different colors!! Amazing. But here I am late night doing a Window Consult for a new store opening up in City Creek, Utah mall, and feeling so tired with my other intern ashley on the right. We are so tired at this point and just want the owner to get all the info to us so we can leave…..awwwww I was so dead tired in this photo. Work Work Work….but it’s fun I must say.

Well all moms wanna have fun!! Growing up I just to ride some skateboards. Did my children believe me? Hec ….no! So I had to show them I still had it. Well……I sort of did, I was just praying I didn’t fall. I didn’t but loved to show them that there mom was still kind of cool. Hope I convinced them of that? I am sure I did. I mean look at those feet.

Well because I have been so blessed as a stylist, my work load had become a bit more then I could handle alll the way….that is why I am so lucky to have my little style team that comes out on their spare time to learn the ropes and get some style experince under the belts. Here this is where we laugh, and talk and get on the right track so we can make this style blog bigger. I love my little blue comfy flats from H&M 12.99 and Rachel is wearing Jefferey Campbell of course.

Ok Ok I am telling ya…..I am a Road Biker Chic and I love tall neon socks…..safty and style is all I need to say….love or hate I am feeling super fast and chic in my socks and that is all that matters.

I love my new shoes for my sunday style, my new Steve Maddens that I got on clearance at TJ Maxx for $22 bucks!! They are so fun with these funky tights and my most fave color mustard. I will rock these all summer long and I am sure you will see these little guys again.

Seeing a trend here? Lot’s of work and baseball?? Yes this is what I do. Except this super warm spring night I loved watching the game over my new fave mag Living Ect. Love to get inspired since I am putting in a new wood floor I have been waiting for, for 8 years! Finally, all my kids stained dumb vomit and sippy cup carpet is coming up and wood is going in. Happy Happy moments from Tax Returns!

Can you tell I love these shoes? I have over 100 pairs of shoes but yet I choose my faves…..well here I am in the green room at ABC4 where I am every Tues. Morning waiting to go on Live TV and talk fashion.

Here I am at the national Landmark the Utah Arch…you know the one you see on all the license plates that say Utah on them? Well it’s in Moab, Utah which I got to go on a huge major hike to go see after a all day bike ride my brother sean thought I could do NO Problem! I wanted to vomit then cry a little but I made it though to the way way windy Arch. You know when I bike I don’t leave home without my trusty neon socks again from Target! Just to see the Arch and wow is it amazing?? ummmm I guess I mean whole Moab is freaking rad but not sure I had to hike for a hour to see it. Well at least on that day!! haa my legs were dead. Thanks Trusty Pumas for pulling me though that day.

Well this is that shoe again man I really love them….but love this pic because it’s me and my girl lillee of course. She had to wear her blue tights on this day because mommy was wearing hers. So we had our blue tights day at church together. I only have 1 girl and 3 boys so when my little girl wants to be like her mommy it’s a big day to me!! So I wanted to capture this moment always because I love her face off. We were feeling pretty fun today.

Thanks for following me on my Walk With Me Day!! Hope feet don’t freak you out! Haaa hope you got to see the journey my life is taking me and hope you loved my stories. Love to follow yours too so if you have a instagram you want me to follow comment below and give me you name! Thanks for the walk and see you next Wednesday on my journey. Can’t wait to see where my feet take me next.

Walk With Me Wedensday Born Creative?

By jenclydestylist | April 11, 2012 | Uncategorized, YouTube channel | 1 Comment

Born With It??

Ok So creativity……where does it come from?? Are you born with it?? When do we start growing as artist? Do we all have a piece of artist in us? Yes I believe we all do have some artist in us for sure. Then I became a mom, and yes I am married to a designer who has appeared on Oprah Winfrey show and yes he is freaking amazing…..but we have 4 beautiful children and we never expected to have this way creative child..in fact two of my boys are total Athletes and play on some of the top teams around town. They love to win or compete. Then our little girl…loves to dance, sing, and just be crazy. Then our son charlie makes me feel so happy but can also drive me crazy up the wall sometimes. Since he was born we knew he was special. He struggled with his speech in the beginning and still does, but he will make your heart melt when he speaks. Then this year more and more he has been blowing my mind. I just don’t understand how is brain is thinking? What is happening. I ask him to do the dishes he builds a tower out of dishes. I go to get the mail then walk in the door and find a half cut up plastic cup and half of a marshmallow taped to the front door with a little note that says HI. I ask him to dust the house, then I walked into my front room and he had redecorated all the decor. Point of the story???? He has made me understand things about myself I had no clue was in me. He pushes me to hear things about myself I had no clue that I had in me. Like patience and understanding, mostly when I walk in the room and he had tape all over and has cut up paper to make necklaces for my daughters teddy bears. He would rather build things and create things then play baseball and I thought that this was not normal? But what is normal? I thought it was every little boy wanted to play sports and win at everything….but I soon realized that I was so very wrong. I hate being so wrong but my son has made me think of things my mind could have never thought of. Everyday he racks my mind and he surprises me. I feel super blessed that I live with creative people all around me including my baby boys who is now 7 years old and more creative than I will ever be. So Born creative YES! Will you always know you have it?? NO !! It’s the inner person that will get out soon, that creative person is like a bomb that will go off if it hasn’t already. And I will tell you right now Charlie’s inner person went off like the day he came into this earth. So enjoy some of the collection of photos I have collected this week and get to know this little guys brain and see a little of what I have to deal with on a daily basis some make me smile and some drive me nuts because I have to clean up a bit more living with a soul like his. We call him OLD MAN…..don’t touch his art or his food. Haaaa cracks me up. Here you go live with me walk with my life this week…enjoy

This is how he does his dishes?? These are just a taste of all the little surprises I walk up too. Nothing looks normal anymore this is my normal

He loves St. George Utah,  he says his favorite part is the red rocks….talks about the color red all the time he hikes on these rocks all day if he could.

Not many kids make the Art Wall Of Fame, but Charlie did!! Best part I had no clue until the last day of school when I found a note in his backpack telling us that it’s a huge honor and to come check it out until a certain date. Well of course Charlie did not think it was a big deal….to him it’s just natural thing….like I said not about winning he just loves to create and it’s almost like So What?? I made him take this photo he didn’t even want to…I wish he could see how special he really is. That’s what moms are for right? I asked “why was yours chosen?” He said “I don’t know, they say it’s special.” I tried to explain that he is super special, he just changed the subject. So cute!

He makes me smile……He really brings me joy and really tests me most to be a better me…

I asked him to dust the house and make sure he lifts up everything and well he sure did lift up everything to dust underneath it. He also made a tower of design he called it. So did I want to move it back to the right table? Yes! Did I?? No! Wanted him to know creativity is great…and he needs to express it even if this means I live with a bit of a mess for a day.

The end of my story….Here are all of my boys and there are athletes and artist but I feel like no matter what I have learned that you need to embrace every talent your children have even if you are not used to a certain talent that maybe you dont understand. Love and support.

Well thanks for walking with me this week. There are so many questions to how we express our art and when?? But instead of questioning just love and inspire those young ones and let them create even if it means your house is turned upside down.

Cheers

Easter Hopping Style

By jenclydestylist | April 3, 2012 | Segments, YouTube channel | No comments

Easter Hopping Style

Well it’s Easter once again!! It’s the day our parents got us all dressed up in our gloves and hat and went to church. Even if we had not gone all year long this was the one day we would go! Sound familiar? We would all pack our dressed up self in the church that day and were excited to do so. So this year if it’s brunch, church, or just Sunday dinner your choice of dress is very important right? You want to look fresh, classic, clean, but yet stylish. I feel like you choice will be grand but the way you style your dress is key. So I put together some fun fresh Easter dresses and styled them up a bit so you can see by taking a cute dress and styling it up to your personality will make all the difference on this Easter Sunday. Style ideas to change up the looks What dresses are super hot for Easter? Well my faves come from Shabby Apple, DownEast Outfitters, and H&M.

Bold Tights- Either patterned or just one bold color, really get creative with your choice of tights. This is where the look will really stand out and be different. So check out all the most amazing colors and patterns and lace tights out there right now in retailers that will make you sizzle on this Sunday.

Jewelry- More is More. When you are thinking more spring tones really have fun with the trendy bold jewelry. Right now it’s all about the bold jewels and I think this summer you can really stand out from your choice of necklaces.

Shoes- Try to think out of the basket this year. Think I am not going to wear blk shoes with my blk dress I am going to try a color!! Try to push yourself this Easter. Go for a fun floral shoe with your blk or white plain dress. Really just think different and see what happens because I bit you will love it!

Color Blocking Is Rocking Spring 2012..You Ready??

By jenclydestylist | February 21, 2012 | Segments, Uncategorized, YouTube channel | 5 Comments

Color Blocking 101

Color blocking heating up spring 2012! Learn how to find your color combo!

Yes, spring is almost here! I like to always bring spring in a bit early by throwing some amazing color into my life! It is true that color does affect your mood. Whether the color is on you or around you, it can make that personality shine! A unique quality of the color blocking trend is that it can be utilized by women of all ages and during every type of adventure that we create when we color block. If you are at work, rocking a bridesmaid dress, out on the town with friends, or just a cute mom shopping at target, when you got color blocking you got the most wearable fashion trend for spring. There are no excuses! So what are you waiting for? It goes right along with my most favorite word “MisMatched Moments”..or ok….I guess two words. So, try this new trend even if you donʼt love color. Keep reading and i’ll give tips for the “not quite sure gal” to the “I am obsessed like Jen Clyde girl.” Here are my words of color wisdom:

1. For The “Not Quite Sure” gal: Start off small. You will keep more money in that color blocked wallet of yours if you don’t buy a brand new outfit that hangs in your closet with tags on it all summer because you wanted to be on trend but really couldn’t commit. Donʼt waste your time, money, or closet space. Start off with a cute pair of shoes that are one big, bright, bold color…. or even a color blocked shoe with two colors! Maybe throw in a color blocked scarf. Either way, you are staying on trend but being true to yourself. Donʼt over do it and just baby step. You may find yourself wanting more color once you have introduced it in small doses, you know? Be confident! Show your true colors in tiny segments. Get your color blocking accessory today.

2. For the “Ok, I’m in but still need my safe black”: Ok I know I know, I am a stylist and I dress thousands of women, so I know that you all need your black or safe neutral! Itʼs almost like your security blanket…and I get that. Some donʼt like a huge color blocked on their behind because they donʼt want it to look bigger then it is, right? Or maybe you donʼt like your middle, or upper chest? So why would you block it with color? I get it! Trust me, I hear your concerns. So my word of wisdom to you is this: go with your color but anchor it with some black or neutral color such as grey! Not white though… you need to have that dark to pull it all together like a tight rope! Also, donʼt be afraid to clash and mismatch….hello, this is not a matching game we are playing here! So maybe stick with two colors and then add in a splash of neutral. A great place to throw the neutral color is in your problem areas or as a accessory with your belt, shoes, cardigan, necklace, or just anywhere to tie the outfit into one!

3. For the “I’m Obsessed, now show me which color is best?”: Stick with two or three colors at best so you donʼt look like a hot mess! That totally rhymed, but anyways moving on….. Ok choose mostly clean, no patterns, un-fussy silhouettes to keep it together like a beautiful rainbow. Some of my favorite combos are Pink and Red. This to me just works like an unexpected moment you thought would never come together. But it did and it does and it looks amazing! I also really love Teal and deep Blues. Another one to try is Yellow and Reds, so hot! Also Pink, Purple, Teal, and Orange scream, “I am amazing and I know how to color block.” So get your color on and have your spring moment be a bit mismatched and donʼt be afraid to color outside of the circle! Happy Spring!

Just remember there are really no wrong ways here, just wear it with confidence. There are so many stores from all different price points like Target to Gucci, that have these trends right now so itʼs for every one of all ages and sizes. Remember, donʼt color your troubled areas it just screams louder than it needs to in all the wrong places! Happy Coloring.

How your Style inspired your home design!! Get inspired!

By jenclydestylist | February 1, 2012 | Segments, Uncategorized, YouTube channel | 2 Comments

This fashion and design segment was so much fun! I got to bring and show off my husband David Clyde, interior designer on the show today on the Daily Dish. Yes I am a stylist and he is an interior designer, and yes it gets a little bit heated when you have two passionate creative people running the house. But we have fun! He was lucky enough to show his design skills off on the Oprah show on the contest he won over millions of people around the world “knock Knock Nate contest.” He was lucky enough to win with two others and get to go on the show. So we did a fun segment on how you can get inspired by your style just by walking in your closet. So here is the info hope you love:

Watch the full episode here! Or read below either way hope you love and get inspired to have a beautiful you and in a beautiful home!

The hidden secret of little tricks designers do to get to know their clients and help them find out what will work best in their living space and bring them happiness right with in their own homes! Every January we are all mostly thinking of how we can change something this year? Either in our home or within our style, health, job, and goals. Sometimes we are all stuck, we donʼt know where to start. We look around at magazines, book stores, Pintrest, and blogs. What you don’t know is the best inspiration for your home design is sitting right in your closet. This is wear your wardrobe and your home become best friends. I put together some looks of some typical styles of clothing and I want to show you some ideas of who these looks are best friends with. What is their match made in design?

1.We have the Boho, creative, loves different patterns and textures, doesn’t mind vintage looking, and loves to collect things that show their personalities in their home. She loves oversized and comfort. They have handmade blankets for show and they donʼt care if it looks like grandmas because that is the beauty of an amazing work of art. They love to shop at  Anthropology, urban outfitter, free people, and they love a good flea market.

2.Traditional look. Their clothes are more put together, more matchy, more classic lines, and they are inspired by the great interior designs of history. They love to shop at Ethan Allen, and maybe some great antique stores. They love that old wood look but freshened up.

3.Minimalist- They like architectural and art. They love to be in clean lines and in structural clothes. Less is more and more is less. They love the big city and love the color white. We envision modern furniture and amazing sculptures in their home. They love to color block and look chic. Think of Jennifer Aniston with her less is more beautiful feel sitting on a big white chair with floor to ceiling windows. They love to read Architectural digest and shop at stores like mod living and L.A. Furniture store. Her hair is straight and cropped above her shoulders maybe. Just a smart, cultured women.

4.Hampton Fresh- This look is inspired in such different ways. She is bold, loves color, is not afraid of stripes not only in her jacket but along her walls down the hall. She loves to shop at J. Crew, but loves to mix and match many different looks. She loves restoration hardware, and pottery barn but is not afraid to throw a little spice in the mix with her boho friend and do some  funky wallpaper print. She would have a bright green kitchen if she could with glass jars full of sea shells and sand. She loves the classics linen feels with a pop of color and maybe a bright red sweater pillow. She is adventurous and loves clean with a mix of chaos

Have fun this year and really try to bring your personality into your home and really your home should scream your name so make it do so!! I want to see your photos if you end up redecorating to your style. Email them to me and I will post them up on my blog. I would love to see my readers homes and style so fun you could inspire someone else this year too just by sharing!! So send some to me. For all David Clyde design info go check him out here! Also special thanks to the boutique blend in Utah for providing the clothing for me to style. Much love.
