Pin Pal of the Week: Sara Deppe

By jenclydestylist | June 8, 2012 | Pintribute Pin Pal | 1 Comment

I’ve been in LOVE with the color “MINT” since well… for a long time!!! And thanks to Sara’s pin it is still not off my radar!  This color has been seen in magazines, on tv, in blogs, etc… being “minty fresh” has been a must in the fashion world this spring.  I absolutely die for anything mint and white together, but when Sara pinned onto PINTRIBUTE and it was a mix of mint, white, AND nude, I knew it was a must to share.

Pinned by Sara Deppe

This combination is great for spring/summer and adds a little something to the normal mint/white mixture.  But don’t be afraid to just keep it within these soft tones!!  Mix it up by adding a mint top with bold pants or add the color into your wardrobe with a mint statement shoe.  You can find mint tops, mint jeans, mint skirts, mint dresses, mint shoes, mint jewelery, mint handbags… and the list goes on…  but the point is, you can add it into your wardrobe however YOU want to, whatever fits YOUR STYLE best.  Here are some more pins from the PINTRIBUTE board that feature the color mint:

Okay so I went a little crazy with the pics, but there are even MORE if you go to Pinterest and check out my Pintribute w/ Jen Clyde Stylist board!  There are tons of pics posted daily and I hope everyone can inspire each other!  Thanks again Sara for being my Pin Pal this week and sharing this great mint mix! Want to see your pin next week??? You can become my pin pal:

1) Subscribe to my blog (enter your email in the top right hand corner of this web page!)
2) Leave a comment on this post with your Pinterest Name
3) I will add you to the Pintribute board and you can Pin away!

Happy Pinning everyone, enjoy the weekend and stay minty fresh!

Cheers!!

Walk With Me Wednesday..Utah’s Design and Artist Highlight

By jenclydestylist | June 6, 2012 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Ok everyone..I just had to share today about a friend and Co Worker that I get the privilege to work with these next couple of months and I am honored. Utah has many hidden gems that are standing all around us and we don’t have to go to a big city to find….that is right one of them is Kandyce Groesbeck. When I found out I got to work with her I was very excited. I got a new fashion/styling consulting job with a up and coming jewelry line. It was spun off of the very very successful amazing company I admire 3-form which is right here in Utah, and you wouldn’t even know it. I first learned of 3-from because my hubby as well is a designer and loved this company since he laid eyes on their product. The company is huge and is growing everyday. Kandyce loved them too, and after graduating from Art School and moving home to Utah, went to check them out. Well she got the opportunity to help start this new company of Jewelry with the CEO of 3-from which is a huge honor. So here we are today I got hired on, and I got to meet this brilliant Utah home grown Artist that blew my mind at how talented she is. You all have to meet her and admire her work as much as I do. I love to be around people who can inspire me in ways I didn’t know I had or thought I could see and she is one of them. She just got done working on City Creek opening for Tiffany and Co. Windows. How awesome is that. She was in charge of the whole concept and Visual of Tiffany & Co. for City Creek.  She turns her inspiration into reality, and I think there is just something magical about that. I hope to learn from her more each day and you all need to check out her website for more of her work. If your close to Utah and can visit City Creek Tiffany & Co. Please stop by and see her work in the windows. So amazing!! As a designer and inspiring artist myself, I love to shine on others around me that are so talented because I feel like if we do that we can only grow from everyone and I feel blessed to know and work with talented people, mostly in my own backyard. So I got to interview her so you all know how she got her start and how she makes it here in Utah as a Artist! Enjoy!

Meet Utah Artist Kandyce Groesbeck….

1. How did you get started in your design/art career? And we’re you always interested in art since you were young?

I come from a very artistic family, it runs in our blood. It all started when I was introduced to the SLC design firm, Axiom through a school program my junior year of high school and quickly realized I was extremely interested in the design process. After graduation I began studying at The School of The Art institute of Chicago then transferred to the Rhode Island School of Design to finish up my graphic design degree. While living in Providence I was exposed to so many incredible artists and designers. It was magical. Here I am today, 4 years later, living in and loving SLC!

2. Do you feel like being a Artist in Utah is a challenge?

Being an artist in Salt Lake is just as good as anywhere. There is so much world class design going on in this place and people have no idea. I think you just need to know what you want and you can find it. Utah offers such a great diversity of lifestyle and craft that you might not be able to find in some of the larger cities.

3. How did you get the opportunity to start doing visual merchandising? And what has been your most favorite window to do?

I started to notice that all the projects I wanted to work on were tactile. Whether it was in a book binding workshop or on the loom, there was something important to me about making material objects. even when I make a painting I interact with the paint and canvas as if I am building something. In the spring of 2009 I started working for Anthropologie building and making the displays for the store in SLC. As a 10 year old I remember my first experience walking into the store and seeing a floor to ceiling column covered in yellow scales. I walked up to it and realized the scales were post-it notes. My heart was pounding with excitement at the thought of somebody being able to achieve such an inspiring piece of art with something so mundane. It is funny looking back on that experience now. I was just some 5th grader probably looking grubby in my soccer clothes, thinking I was going to become the next Mia Hamm at the time, but my heart knew otherwise, thank goodness.

4. How do you turn your inspiration or a idea into a piece of art? Where does a idea start from?

Ideas come from everywhere! There are times when I want to capture the look of something in a realistic way with an unlikely material, or times when I want a simplified graphic abstraction of an idea. Once I have the materials in my hands I always deconstruct it; fold it, rip it, soak it, crumple it, dye it, really anything I can think of. This is my artistic zen approach. This shows me what the materials are capable of doing, it brings out it’s true essence, so to speak. Once I know my space and my material I start sketching and planning.

Thanks Kandyce for a great interview and letting us see more into your life….now everyone enjoy some of her work below! It’s awesome and makes you want to go craft and create in major ways.

For more of her work Visit her website. I am sure we will be seeing a ton more of this girl all around town. Thanks for walking with me in my everyday life, and my new friends, and my new inspirations. Subscribe to join all of these fun posts daily. Thanks….happy Wednesday.

Cheers

Colored Jeans At Any Age

By jenclydestylist | June 5, 2012 | Segments | 3 Comments

Colored Jeans At Any Age!!

Ok itʼs summer time and you are seeing color everywhere on everyone! You ask, “at

what age does the color jeans trend stop?” I answered, “Never.” Done right you can join

on this color train this summer. Here are some yummy fresh ideas on how you can wear

it “age appropriate” and feel confidant.

1. Over 40 Add a Classic Balance with a Boyfriend or any type of blazer in a neutral

color. Baby step it with a fresh white blazer or black. Nude is great too just donʼt done

any funky patterns or color-blocking unless you are ready and you know how to pull it

off. By adding this blazer you are getting that older classic stylish feel instead of a

youthful trying to hard feel. Looks effortless and just a perfect style fit for any

personality. Also go for the flare at the bottom if you have bigger hips not the skinny

leg colored jeans. That way it will balance you out. Make you look smaller then add

your jacket and a longer top to lay on-top of those hips. This will help.

2. Over 30 Add some denim on-top. I love this look because itʼs still youthful but yet itʼs

guided by a more mature chic style that is very trendy right now. I love it paired with

mustard, red, purple, and pastel colored jeans. I feel like it really just makes the whole

outfit with some some amazing accessories or even a animal print shoe you are

ready for any event. Add heels to make it a bit more day to night and have that long

sexy leg feel even paired with a denim top. My go to denim top is by Current Elliott.

Called the Perfect Shirt. They are a must have.

3. Over 20 Add some funky. Really the world is yours and you can make it anything you

want. Go for the color-blocking is my recommendation. It is the must have right now

and you can really play up the colors you are choosing to block. Or a pattern either

way you are on the right track. Just remembering balance is very important and you

need to have that.

So what ever age you are at and what ever style you are wearing just make it yours.

Confidence is everything and if you want to mix and match these age recommendations

then go for it just make sure you are wearing colored with confidence and you can pull

off anything
